The neighboring town of Hemingford discovers the gruesome massacre of Gatlin’s entire adult population as well as those children who refuse to participate in the human sacrifices to the fields. The once quiet mid-western town is jolted into activity as a barrage of media reporters descend upon it. Among them is tabloid reporter John Garrett who is hoping to save his failing career by breaking the story on the bizarre murders. Traveling with Garrett is Danny, his defiant 18-year-old son, a young man filled with resentment for his divorced father’s lack of attention over the years.
