Evan Almighty brings Evan Baxter (Steve Carell), who first appeared in Bruce Almighty, face to face with God (Morgan Freeman). Evan has been elected to a government office and moves his wife Joan (Lauren Graham) and three sons to Virginia, where another politico (John Goodman) takes him under his wing. Just as the family settles in to a new house and routine, strange deliveries and unusual visitors come to the house. Evan then meets the provider of these items and is told he is needed to build an ark. Evan's encounters with God are a catalyst for changes to his view of himself, his family relationships and his work – but will they destroy everything he holds dear in the process?
